Spring Fever!

It’s mighty beautiful outside today. It’s also windy. I may have to find Toto and head for the cellar.

I’m over-caffienated. I’m distracted. I’m twitching.

I think the most advanced form I can accomplish with today’s entry is a list. Maybe two.

LIST, the first.
Or, MY WEEKEND.

1. The patio of my local drinking establishment was opened for the season. Drinking outside is so different from drinking inside. The main difference is in the lack of walls or a roof.

2. Ladies and gentlemen, try this if you ever get the chance. Cut a pineaple lengthwise and grill it. Lengthwise because it stays together a little better.

3. Kill Bill Vol. 1, Kill Bill Vol. 2, and 28 days later. I only cried once.

4. Hanging out with babies will do strange things to you. There’s nothing like holding a baby in a rocking chair and feeding it a bottle until it falls asleep. And then if you’re getting paid for it…well…

5. Hair dye purchased. Hang on to your hats, I’m dyeing it tonight and then showing it off at bowling.

6. I’ve seen this ten or twelve times now. And played this tons more. Thanks, Jeremy.

LIST, the second
Or, PLANS

1. Dye the hair
2. Ride the bike
3. Write the letters
4. Finish the applications
5. Wash the clothes
6. Cook the beets

Was it 28 Days Later that made you cry? And was it from fear or sadness?

And if you're looking for new Internet games to play, definitely don't miss this one. But be prepared to invest hours.

I cried during Kill Bill Vol. 1 when she was battling the Crazy 88's. Usually when I watch violent movies I cringe and squirm but make it through to the end without being overcome. The cringing and squirming is because I feel sad for the people being hurt, I feel sad for the people hurting them, and I feel scared because I'm forced to remember that sometimes violence is real. I know that I wasn't overcome due to a connection I felt with the story - even though I did connect with the story deeply - it was simply the magnitude of the violence. Kill Bill Vol. 1 is a nonstop assault and I guess I just reached my limit.

That's interesting. I wouldn't have guessed that scene. It's true, I suppose, that that scene is technically the most violent in the film, but it's also the scene which strikes me as the most cartoonish, where the violence is the most stylized, least visceral. It's the scene where it's *easiest* for me to say "this is not real."
