“…This project was begun in March of 2001 in response to my students’ requests for information on microphones that is not available in our course text, and by my ninety-year-old mother’s remark that she thought all microphones were alike….”

Stan Coutant is a professor at Pasadena City College. besides the scores of educational material about microphones, i found a bunch of other stuff that made me geek out:

a few celebs with various microphones

I love those photos of the old mics. Something about those seems far more romantic than what is used today. It was, as if, during the torch songs, the mic became the "stand in" for the object of the song. Frank S. was very good at that.

Hoagy Charmichael is in my top five favorite films, "The Best Years of Our Lives".

Hoagy also has a couple of nice numbers in one of my favorites, _To Have and Have Not_. The film also has the best Humphrey Bogart "I'm gonna give you a beating now" scenes.

Also has Lauren Bacall's best line: "You know how to whistle, don't you Steve? You just put your lips together and blow."

Thank you. Glad you enjoy the microphone site. It's been a joy to create, and will never be finished as long as I'm still breathing.
